Returns and Refunds

Return Policy

Lowe’s is committed to partnering with you to achieve your home improvement goals.  

If you’re not completely satisfied with your Lowe’s purchase, simply return the merchandise to any Lowe’s store in the US.   

Most new, unused merchandise can be refunded or exchanged with receipt within 90 days of the original purchase date, unless noted in our Return Policy Exceptions. If your purchase was made with a Lowe’s Commercial Account (LCA), Lowe’s Business Advantage (LBA), Lowe’s Advantage Card (LAC), Lowe’s Business Rewards (LBR), or Lowe’s PreLoad Plus Mastercard® you have 365 days from the date of purchase to return the product, unless noted in our Return Policy Exceptions. All returns are subject to system approvals.   

Returns with a valid proof of purchase will be exchanged, refunded in cash, credited to your account or refunded via in-store credit based on the original method of payment, except as set forth by the following:

  • Purchases made with a Lowe’s Gift Card, refund card, merchandise card or in-store credit will be refunded as in-store credit. 
  • Purchases made with a check will be refunded as In-Store Credit if within 3 days of purchase; if after 3 days, purchases may be refunded in cash or In-Store Credit as determined by refund verification systems. No refund will be provided if you have an outstanding bad check with Lowe’s as determined by check verification systems.
  • Purchases made with Lowe’s Pay are credited back to the financing institution, which will handle the refund process with you directly. Purchases made with Lowe’s Pay cannot be refunded to cash and/or in-store credit and do not qualify for Lowe’s credit card Return Policy extensions.

Written copies of Lowe’s Return Policy will be provided upon request.   

Returns Without Receipt 

In most instances, your receipt can be retrieved by using the original credit card, checking account number, MyLowe’s card or your phone number. For returns without a valid receipt, Lowe’s, at its discretion, may issue in-store credit for the item’s current selling price.

  • Lowe’s requires a valid picture ID (state driver’s license, state ID card or military ID) for returns without a receipt. The same identification provided for a return without receipt may be required to use an In-Store Credit for purchase. Lowe’s uses and checks refund verification systems. ID information or a phone number may be entered into these systems where authorized by law. All returns are subject to system approvals. We may issue In-Store Credit for the item’s current selling price in our discretion. Lowe’s reserves the right to refuse and/or limit the number of returns without a valid receipt.

Return Policy Exceptions

48-Hour Return Policy

  • Return must be initiated with Lowe’s within 48 hours of delivery or the time of pickup at a Lowe’s location.
  • Major Appliances – Refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, ranges, hoods, dishwashers, over-the-range microwaves, cooktops, wall ovens, washer and dryer pedestals. 
  • Utility Vehicles and Golf Carts – Must be returned to a Lowe’s store in the original state of purchase with original paperwork including title (if applicable).
  • Exceptions:
    • Major Appliances returned in original, unopened, undamaged, factory-sealed packaging may be returned within 30 days of purchase.
    • Purchases made with Lowe’s Commercial Account (LCA), Lowe’s Business Advantage (LBA), Lowe’s Advantage Card (LAC), Lowe’s Business Rewards (LBR), Lowe’s PreLoad Plus Mastercard®, Lowe’s Lease to Own (LTO) may be returned within 30 days of purchase.

30-Day Return Policy

  • TVs and Electronics
  • Outdoor Power Equipment
    (Excludes CRAFTSMAN and BLACK+DECKER branded corded and cordless outdoor power equipment items, which have a 90-day return policy.)
    Mowers, chainsaws, generators, pressure washers, trimmers, blowers, snow throwers, log splitters, wood chippers, hedge trimmers, edgers, tillers, earth augers and brush cutters must be returned within 30 days of receiving the product and must be unused and in original, unopened, undamaged, factory-sealed packaging.
  • Water Heaters
  • Air Conditioners (Portable and Window Units)
  • Liquid Paint
  • Highway Trailers
    Also, must be returned to a Lowe’s store in the original state of purchase with original paperwork including title (if applicable).

Holiday Items

Must be returned on or before the day of the holiday (e.g., Christmas). Items purchased after the holiday are final sales, and no returns will be accepted.
